College Bound Scholarship

What is the College Bound Scholarship?

The College Bound Scholarship is an early commitment of state financial aid to help eligible students pay for college. This scholarship covers average tuition and some fees and books at over 65 colleges, universities and technical schools in Washington. The College Bound Scholarship money is NOT a loan, students DO NOT have to pay back any money that is awarded.

Who is eligible for the College Bound Scholarship?

You are eligible if you are a student in the 7th or 8th grade and meet one of the qualifying requirements. Click here to learn if you qualify for the scholarship.

**If your family qualifies for free/reduced lunch in the Nooksack Valley School District, then your student will automatically qualify for the College Bound Scholarship.

What do I have to do?

If your family qualifies for free/reduced lunch, then your student is automatically enrolled in the College Bound Scholarship. Your student will be mailed a certificate (after the end of November) which will indicate their enrollment in CBS - there are no signatures or further applications required. If your family does not qualify/participate in free/reduced lunch but does meet another qualifying criterion, please contact Ms. Boesel.

What does my student have to do?

If your student qualifies for this scholarship, they will receive a mailed certificate from College Bound - in order to remain qualified your student must commit to the College Bound Pledge:

  • Graduate from a Washington high school with a 2.0 GPA or better
  • Apply to a Washington college or technical school within 1 year of graduating high school
  • Apply for FAFSA or WASFA during their senior year of high school and each year of college
