Serving the Nooksack Valley Schools as the lone middle school in the district, the building on West Columbia Street in Nooksack and near Everson opened new in 2017. The site served as an elementary school previously before a 1998 conversion into a middle school. The rebuild in 2017 gave the district its first new middle school building, serving students in sixth through eighth grades. Current principal Joel VanderYacht previously taught at the school and now leads a talented staff serving about 431 students.

A Note from Principal, Joel VanderYacht

Welcome to Nooksack Valley Middle School.  We are school which prides itself on high academic goals and high levels of achievement.  Our teachers and staff welcome students into an environment in which students feel safe to be themselves.  We teach our students the academic skills they need to be successful in high school and beyond, and we strive to create a classroom environment in which students develop the ability to think deeply, analyze problems, look for solutions, and work in a collaborative environment with other students.  In addition to creating a school and classroom environment where students work together to solve complex problems, we also have our students spend time providing service to our community through their 8th grade Breakout project.  We, the teachers and staff at Nooksack Valley Middle School, strive to make it a wonderful school for students to grow and learn in their middle school years.
