The twice-weekly 45-minute class uses the Character Strong curriculum for grade-level specific lessons focused on improving the culture of the school. This year, NVMS has embraced “character dare” challenges as part of the curriculum, whether something as simple as smiling at people in the hallways or holding doors open for others. For November, though, the dare steps up with “No Phone November.”
High school math teacher Charlotte Couto knows that sometimes students simply need another perspective. Paraeducators provide that in her classroom. And so much more.
The diversity of paraeducators within NV Schools leads to a crew of nearly 60 people serving the students. They work in specialized LifeSkills positions to ELL support and elementary school supervision to coordinating entire programs at the middle or high school. Paraeducators even support after-school programs.
