Nooksack Valley Prepares for Free Meals for All Students Again in 2023-24
Following a successful implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision program last school year, Nooksack Valley Schools will again offer meals at no cost to students on campus in year two of the program.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture program offers all Nooksack Valley students a breakfast and lunch at no cost again this year. Families may be asked to fill out a Family Income Survey in certain circumstances, but every student is eligible for the program when at school.
During year one of the program, Melissa Paulus. NV director of food services, says the volume of meals served went up, as did the need for additional food storage and labor hours. “We are better prepared,” she says, “for the higher volume of meals coming into this school year.”
