Quick Look:
School starts at 7:45 am. First bell at 7:40.
School ends at 2:15 pm.
Students who walk, ride their bike or are dropped off should walk around to the EAST entry door (bus drop off area) for entry (by 7:45). If they arrive after 7:45, they need to enter through the front door. They will need to ring the doorbell and identify themselves for entry.
ALL purchases (yearbook, ASB, sport clearance) must be done before school or during student lunch. Parents wishing to pay for things must be in before 1pm. Our till closes at 1pm and we cannot process any payments after that.
From the Principal:
We had a wonderful first week of school and are excited about the year ahead! As students move into middle school, they gain more independence, and with that comes the challenge of making good choices. One of the biggest factors we see affecting students during the day is sleep. With early start times, after-school activities, and late-night phone or gaming use, many students are not getting the rest they need.
We’d love your help in setting healthy routines at home. The recommended amount of sleep for a 13-year-old is 8–10 hours a night. That means if your child gets up at 6:30 a.m., they should be heading to bed around 9:30 p.m. The most successful students keep phones and gaming systems out of their bedrooms and wind down with reading before bed. Even 20 minutes of nightly reading can help them relax and still get about 8.5 hours of sleep.
Your support makes a big difference as students learn to balance responsibility and independence during these middle school years.

Sports!
Sports Forms are available on the NVMS Website under Activities/Athletics/Forms. Forms are now fillable online and may be returned to NVMSSportClearance@nv.k12.wa.us
Annual Student Update:
We need your help. To ensure that we have accurate and current information about your student(s) and family, we ask that you log in to your Skyward Family Access account and complete the Annual Student Update Online form there. You will find the Annual Student Update tile under each of your student’s name. Please do this for each student. This is also where you would provide your permissions for sharing (or not sharing) your student’s demographic information to various entities/agencies (such as pictures, name and grade to local media, vendors, higher ed, military, etc.) If you need help with your Skyward login, please contact the school office staff.
Let’s eat!
Breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year. Encourage your student to eat breakfast, even if it is getting a Grab and Go option for a snack later.
Phone Use:
At NVMS our hope for students is that they are able to develop healthy peer-peer relationships both in-person and online along with healthy and productive relationships with technology. In order to do so, consistent campus and classroom expectations around cell phone an ear bud usage will be in place. If a student needs to use their phone for personal use, the expectation is that they check in with a teacher or other staff member to get permission to step into the office or separate space to do so. Students may also use the school phone for school business or emergencies.
Cell phones must remain in students back pack between the times of 7:15-2:15
Violation of Cell Phone Expectation will result in Cell phone getting turned into the office.
1st time– Student will need to pick up cell phone in the office at the end of the day, parent/guardian notified. 2nd time- Parent/Guardian will need to arrange to pick up cell phone, Lunch Detention
3rd time– Pioneer Success Level Drop, parent contact-student not permitted to bring cell phone on campus for remainder of semester.
