Parents,

Student Drop Off

It seems drop off is going well as parents pull up through the drop off area and drop their students so they can walk around the building to the student entrance on the east side (mountain side of the building).  Please be careful as the days become shorter as we have students walking to school and they will soon be walking in the dark.  As you leave please pay close attention to the side walk areas on the west side of the building (the side that faces towards the Ocean/sunset side).

Do not drop your students off before 7:25 as we don't open the doors to the school until 7:25.

Student Pick up

Pick up is a bit chaotic as everyone is picking up at the same time.  Please pull all the way to the front of the pick-up line if you are the first to arrive.  This gives more room for cars to wait and it eliminates some of the cars waiting in front of the bet clinic.  If you are heading west, you can pull up along the side of the road and your child can cross the cross walk and meet you on the side of the road (if you do this, please ensure your child only enters your car on the passenger side of your car).  You are also welcome to pull into the parking spots as well.  

Transportation and our Bus Drivers are extremely grateful when our parents who are picking up their children are courtesy and helpful as the buses are leaving the Middle School.  

It is also helpful when you are leaving the middle school and heading east if you leave enough room for cars who are leaving the school and heading west to exit the building as waiting for both directions of traffic often takes a lot longer than just taking a right as you exit the pick up loop.

Fundraiser coming up!!

Our annual fall fundraiser is coming up! We will have our kickoff assembly for students on Wednesday, September 17th.  We depend on the profits from this fundraiser to help pay for student activities, events, assemblies and more.  We would really appreciate your support.  If you could help your child(ren) sell a few items, it would really benefit our entire school.  We have some fun prizes and a NEW field trip opportunity we are excited to announce as a reward for participating and selling.  Be on the lookout and be thinking of all your in and out-of-town friends and family you can reach out to that might support our school.  Thank you, in advance, for your support in this important fundraiser.

Sports Forms are available on the NVMS Website under Activities/Athletics/Forms. Forms are now fillable online and may be returned to NVMSSportClearance@nv.k12.wa.us

Annual Student Update:

We need your help.  To ensure that we have accurate and current information about your student(s) and family, we ask that you log in to your Skyward Family Access account and complete the Annual Student Update Online form there.  You will find the Annual Student Update tile under each of your student’s name.  Please do this for each student.  This is also where you would provide your permissions for sharing (or not sharing) your student’s demographic information to various entities/agencies (such as pictures, name and grade to local media, vendors, higher ed, military, etc.)  If you need help with your Skyward login, please contact the school office staff.

Did you know that the PTSA is required to have at least 25 members in order to maintain our program? Membership is only $10 per school year and helps support our program and students. You don't have to do anything more than fill out the form and pay your dues, that's it. If you want to volunteer or attend meetings we of course won't say no, but we do not expect anything more than joining. Thank you for your support!

Absences/Arriving Late:

If your student is absent from school or arriving late to school, there are 3 ways to communicate why they are absent.  You may call the office, 360-966-7561 (outside office hours you may leave a message), a parent/guardian may write a note and send in with your student or send us a Parent Square message.  Please keep in mind that if your student is participating in a school sport, we need a note from the Doctor/Dentist/Counselor to keep them eligible to participate in sports practice or games that day. Parent written notes do not keep the student eligible for sports. 

Let’s eat!

Breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year.   Encourage your student to eat breakfast, even if it is getting a Grab and Go option for a snack later.

Phone Use:

At NVMS our hope for students is that they are able to develop healthy peer-peer relationships both in-person and online along with healthy and productive relationships with technology. In order to do so, consistent campus and classroom expectations around cell phone an ear bud usage will be in place. If a student needs to use their phone for personal use, the expectation is that they check in with a teacher or other staff member to get permission to step into the office or separate space to do so. Students may also use the school phone for school business or emergencies.

Cell phones must remain in students back pack between the times of 7:15-2:15

Violation of Cell Phone Expectation will result in Cell phone getting turned into the office.

1st time– Student will need to pick up cell phone in the office at the end of the day, parent/guardian notified. 2nd time- Parent/Guardian will need to arrange to pick up cell phone, Lunch Detention

3rd time– Pioneer Success Level Drop, parent contact-student not permitted to bring cell phone on campus for remainder of semester.

What’s my bus??!!

Please be sure your students know their bus number.  Here is a link to the Bus Routes on our website.   Find your address and estimated time of pick up.

Zonar: Zonar is an app that allows you to see where your student’s bus is in real time.  Download the Zonar app, our school number is: 2311. Your child’s unique ID is their student number with no zeros at the beginning.  See attached fliers.
