Open House (6th Grade)/Sports Clearance/Staff Changes/Conferences

Middle School Open House and Classroom Visits

Faculty and staff of the Middle School invite 6th grade students and parents, as well as students who are new to Nooksack Valley Middle School and their parents, to visit on Tuesday, August 25th, from 3:00–4:00 p.m. to tour the school and visit their classrooms.

This is a great opportunity to walk through the Middle School, see where your child's classroom will be, and meet staff members. We encourage all students to access their schedule in Skyward on Monday before visiting so you will know which teachers' classrooms to stop by. We will have paper schedules available if needed.

Sports Clearance

7th and 8th grade parents and students who want to clear for sports can do so beginning August 20th during office hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Here is a link to the sports clearance forms: NOOKSACK VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL - Forms

Please plan to complete sports clearance outside of the Open House time. The office will be very busy during the 6th Grade and New Student Open House, and lines will be long. Therefore, the office will not be available for sports clearance during the Open House.

Staff Changes and Updates

There are a few changes to the NVMS staff for the 2026–27 school year. Mr. Korthuis will be moving up from 6th grade and will be teaching 7th grade Math/Science. Mrs. West will be returning to 7th grade and will also be teaching Math/Science. Mr. Breshears will be filling in for Mrs. VanDyken in 7th grade ELA/SS, as she will begin the school year on maternity leave. Mrs. Lesslie will be joining us from the Burlington-Edison School District and will be teaching 8th grade Science and Social Studies.

• We are still in the process of adding information and updates to the website. We will keep you posted on where to find things online!
• NVMS Notes Home are sent weekly during the school year and are also posted on our website. Please be sure you have an up-to-date and accurate email address in Skyward.

Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences

This year, our first Parent-Student-Teacher conferences will be held during the last week of September. We will provide more information in the weeks ahead about scheduling and conference times. We will also have a second opportunity for Parent-Student-Teacher conferences in March.

The Nooksack School District will be providing basic school supplies for our students once again this year.
