It's Game Time!

NVMS Football Parents:
It's game week and our student-athletes have been working hard, showing PET (Persistence, Effort, Teamwork), and we're eager to begin competing against an opponent.
7th grade is playing Lynden Christian on Tuesday at 4:00 pm at NVMS.
8th grade is playing Lynden Christian at LC on Thursday at 4:00 pm.
A few notes that we want to make sure you understand to help us provide consistency and accountability for our student-athletes:
- When we play a home game our players are not allowed to leave campus between school ending at 2:15 pm and the game beginning at 4:00 pm. We have communicated this expectation to the players and we hope you will help us keep them accountable. If a player does leave campus - despite numerous reminders not to - he will make himself ineligible to play in the game that day.
- When 7th grade has a home game, we need three players from the 8th grade team to operate the "chain gang" (yardage markers). When 8th grade has a home game, we need three 7th graders. We want to identify those three players as soon as possible on or before gameday. So please encourage your player to be willing to volunteer if he can. NOTE: a player who volunteers for the "chain gang" will miss the activities bus that picks up student-athletes around 5:05 each afternoon at NVMS.

The coaches are working hard to make sure each player gets the opportunity to participate and be in a position to succeed in each game. It is a responsibility we take seriously. If you believe your player is not getting enough opportunities to play we encourage you to do the following:
- Talk first with your player.
- Avoid speaking to a coach until at least 24 hours after a game.
- If you believe you need to speak to a coach, please speak with NVMS head coach Lincoln Vander Veen. You can speak to Coach Vander Veen in person, but you can also email him at lincoln.vanderveen@nv.k12.wa.us. And practice is always open for parents to attend as well.
